Modalities: Orofacial Myology, Buteyko Breathing Method
Orofacial Myology: has been found to benefit some people with dysfunctional breathing when there is a coexisting oral musculature disorder. This treatment focuses on improving oral functions of the jaw, lip, and tongue muscles for speech and feeding and while at rest. Individuals who would benefit from Orofacial Myology are those with a lisp, a tongue thrust swallow, or a tongue resting posture that is between or against the teeth.
Buteyko Breathing Method: is a breathing method that normalizes dysfunctional breathing patterns, such as asthma, snoring, and sleep apnea. The method includes education on how diet, stress, and exercise impact one’s breathing and how to optimize daily routines for the best respiratory functioning. Exercises to improve breathing will be taught each week and progress will be monitored. The course is completed in 5, 1-hour long sessions.
